Composer & Lyricist

With a background in piano and composition, Melanie has written music for theater, modern dance and instrumental chamber groups in New York City and the San Francisco Bay Area. She is currently developing several musical theater projects. Recent credits include Prospect Theater’s Musical Theater Lab Project: Souvenir Stories, participating in the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop in New York, and having pieces published in Best Contemporary Monologues for Kids, ages 7-15, and Best 5-Minute Plays for Teens, by Applause Theatre & Cinema Books.

What would you give to a neighbor’s yard sale? And what would it say about you? The Turners find themselves surrounded by other people’s belongings – and mysteries. Luckily, the police are not involved for long, understanding is reached in four households and the yard sale proceeds, though not entirely as planned!

Narrative Version

First produced and aired by Upper Westside Radio, here is a narrative version of the musical, Yard Sale.  The event in the story is a yard sale, which can bring out more than just items for sale – we all know the histories and sometimes the secrets that can come out as people empty their basements.
